Why did you choose Swiss Hotel Management School to pursue your bachelor's degree?

To be completely honest, I’ve always been a people’s person. I’ve always loved working with people, which is why I decided to choose the hospitality industry in general. Why SHMS specifically? First of all, Switzerland is one of the best places to study hospitality. SHMS, being ranked the 3rd worldwide in hospitality, really attracted me to come and study here. Switzerland is an amazing place as well, which made me want to come and study here rather than study anywhere else around the world.  

 

Tell us about your internship experience.

I did my internship in the front office at Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort. I specifically chose to work in the front office because it exposes you to every other department. It was a great way for me to see how other departments work.

 

What do you do in your free time?

I have quite a full schedule usually here at school. The school offers various sports and leisure teams and I belong to the football and basketball teams, as well as the cheerleading squad. Honestly, I love Switzerland. I visited Switzerland earlier when I was younger with my family and that’s when I first fell in love with the country, which is also one of the reasons I really wanted to study here. 

 

What is your favorite class?

I actually like event management the most. One of my goals after finishing my studies is to be an event planner. As part of this class, we ran an event for which I was the event manager, which was a very good experience. It wasn’t easy but it was definitely something I learned a lot from.
