On November 22, 2014 the students organized CultureAid night raised 2,500 CHF for the Zimbabwe based Mpangara Trees who used the money to plant 150 drought tolerant Acacia trees and 4 Palm trees to improve the environment and the lives of the children at St. Marcellin’s Children’s Village in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Mpangara Trees was co-founded by SHMS Alumni Tawanda Marembo and HIM & SHMS Alumni Thandlwe Nharl. It is a privately owned environmental company focused on planting and growing tree species to counteract the vast deforestation across Zimbabwe.
"On behalf of the Mpangara Trees team, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the donation you have pledged to improve the environment and the lives of the children at St. Marcellin’s Children Village. That donation will go a long way in or efforts to completely transform the environmental landscape of this place." Thandiwe Nhari, Finance and Administration Director of Mpangara Trees.
