A hospitality education gave these two entrepreneurs a leg up in the luxury property industry.
InterLux Immobilien, run by SHMS alumna Ana Glück and Hotel Institute Montreux alumna Varvara Laabes, is quickly becoming a recognised private estate search firm in Europe. Having met as hotel management undergraduates, the pair started their Germany-based business to help individuals and small enterprises find their ideal luxury property around the world.
How would you describe your business, InterLux Immobilien?
We help people find the perfect vacation homes or investment opportunities, that suit their budget and lifestyle. In most cases, our clients are looking for a vacation home or a small business to operate such as a restaurant or a B&B.
“
Sometimes clients come to us with just a budget and a broad idea so they rely on our experience to find some really interesting investment opportunities.
”
How has your education at SHMS and HIM together with your experience working in luxury hotels helped in preparing you for your business?
This is where our experience in communication and delivering exceptional service to make sure that our clients are satisfied stems from. Our hospitality education has helped us focus on what is best for the clients.
“
One of the main similarities between hotel management and the property business is that our clients also have high expectations in terms of service and quality.
”
How do you define luxury?
Without a doubt luxury is quality! In real estate, materials and extra features are what separate luxury from basic properties. Luxury is also defined by the delivery, the care and commitment one receives on the journey.
What does it take to be successful in the luxury real estate business?
It takes openness and willingness to cooperate. You have to be an excellent communicator and really listen to your clients. You have to have experience dealing with all kinds of people and handling challenging scenarios. In our case our differences (in experience, knowledge and personality) is our biggest strength because we each bring something unique to the table.
What future goals do you have for InterLux Immobilien?
We would like to build the largest network of trusted real estate partners in order to enable our team and our partners to deliver better opportunities to clients faster. We think that real estate is becoming a global affair and it should be easier, more transparent and safe to do international real estate transactions.
